Do you fill out the whole captcha?

I read a discussion on this a while back that gave some tricks on filling in the captcha's, like the one's on the ITV comps. It said that you could get it to go through even by only filling in half of it.
My wife told me this evening that in her job (marketing), when they receive forms with captcha's on, they filter out the ones that have only been half filled in. So now I'm thinking that the companies that run comps could/would also do this, as it would be their own marketing depts that would manage the competitions.
What are everyone's thoughts on this? I think from now on I will fill out the whole captcha to avoid the risk, it's a little annoying as I will add a few precious seconds onto my daily comping schedule, annoying as I try to be as efficient as possible!

I'm not sure I understand how a company can see the captchas when they are generated from a central source and the squiggly word, translated correctly, is used to help digitise scanned text.0

I only ever fill in the squiggely word and won some kitchen equipment a while ago.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

It has been reported by various members over the years that you only need to fill in the 1 captcha (the sqiggely/squashed one). This is for all captchas, not just ITV.Thank you all who post.0

It's a scripted plugin that auto generates from a minimum pool of over 10000 words. Once they are matched it gives either a yes/no to the form submitted0 -

You wife was either pulling your leg or as it relates to low volume contact forms they use their own type of "captcha" and not the "trademarked" version used by most companies running competitions.0 -
If it's a long number and then a picture of a short one you only need the long one to submit.0

I have noticed that i've made the odd typo the moment i press enter on the clicktowin captchas and it's gone though as entered rather than tell me i've messed up.
All other captchas tell me i've messed up pretty sharpish, even when i haven't lol.0 -
The reason why it can go through sometimes is, if it's a new scanned word which hasn't yet been verified, the system will take eventually the spelling which has been given most often as being the correct translation of it.0
