Hmmmm, possibly a bug .
Maybe the website pages of competitions are only compatible with Older verisons of Java.
Maybe try System restore
Start>>programs>>accesories>>system tools>>System restore>> then select a date on the calender of when the last system checkpoint was, this will restore your system to an earlier date, keeping all documents added since etc, but removing any recent programs or updates eg. java but not antivirus!!
Try it if you want.

I was able to do the quizzes using Crazy Browser instead of Firefox, but it still isn't saving them as when I go back 1/2 hour later, the quizzes are asking to be entered again
