Debt Gone missing!!

New to the forums so hello to you all

My wife and I are halfway through a DMP, started at over £80k, now down to £34K so slowly, but surely getting rid of it all.

We had 2 loans with Northern Rock, now NRAM. In Feb 2014 they apparently sold all unsecured loans onto Marlin Finance.

We had a letter saying one loan is now owned by Marlin, but no one knows where the other one has gone!!

We are with Step Change (who are very very good I have to say) and they asked if we know who owns the debt now. NRAM have said they dont have it, Marlin have said they dont have it. My wife spoke to a lady from Marlin and she said they were due to take over a loan in my wifes name, but they never had it as they said it was paid off in full

Step change have said that they will use the funds to pay of other debts as per usual and if we get a letter from anyone to claim the loan to let them know.

I will gladly accept that this loan is lost as it was for just under £12K!!

Has any one else heard of this happening before?
