Nationwide affordability question

Hello,
As a Nationwide customer already I'd like to borrow more and usually have around £1000 per month spare to save/spend, the additional payments on the extra borrowing would be £300 per month.
Over the last 4 months I have used what's left of wages to buy furniture/new front door etc. As these are one-offs I'm not concerned about affordability but will Nationwide look at the bank statements and think I have no spare cash? Will I be ok to apply now as these are explainable, or should I not spend on extras and apply in 3-6 months?
Any advice would be gratefully received!

What you describe is discretionary spending. They are looking more at regular commitments ie:things you have to pay every month like HP, loans etc
Just to add you should look at other lenders as well - you may be able to get a better rate elsewhere. Maybe not but worth trying.I am a Financial Adviser specialising in Mortgages, Protection, Health and Medical Insurance. I also write wills.
