Mortgage after BR

Hi all, I posted in here a few years ago after being declined a mortgage after being discharged from bankruptcy. In the time since then I've improved my score some more (now at 920-980 depending when you check), and have a decent salary. I'm now looking to get a mortgage again on my own.

After checking today, I find that the bankruptcy has completely gone from my credit file public record section. No trace of bad credit whatsoever. (I heard the bankruptcy was only on there for 6 years but I didn't believe it). So, now that it's gone, when I apply for a mortgage in a few days, can I say no to the usual bankruptcy questions or do I still have to declare it?

  • If the question is "Have you EVER been Bankrupt" then you will have to answer yes.

Having said that it is best to see a broker as there are some companies who will be OK with ticking no if it's over 6 years since you were BR (I believe Halifax are one but there may be others) and a broker will know which companies are more likely to disregard an old bankruptcy.

    Hi

If you see my post under help to buy in this forum you will see the journey I have been on. I completed on my property on the 30th April and very stressful journey but very worth it all.
