teacher training in scotland

hi,

after some advice on benefits and financial help available if I decide to go to teacher training this autumn......any advice most appreciated.

I'm looking into applying to do 1 year PGDE this autumn in scotland. I can apply for a student loan upto 7500pounds and will have a redundancy package from my employer of 8000 pounds.

As the sole wage earner my wife will earn about 14k - what would the benefit system situation be if we were to drop my income, (currently don't get any) . Would we get anything ?

Also any advice on finiancial help available for teacher training would be most welcome.

thanks
