What happens to unsold sale items?

Is there anybody out there who can tell me what happens to unsold sale items? I get a bit frustrated with shops that only reduce things in their sales by only £10 or so, so I was wondering what happens to them after the shop has restocked with new stuff?

Does it go on E-bay? Factory warehouses? TKMaxx? What?

If anyone can give details of where specific stores send their unsold stuff, that'd be even better!!

I know river island, and i've heard ann summers and New look do it - they send things back to thier warehouse, and re-cycle them next sale. Next distribute them to thier clearance stores (I know there's one in birmingham). I also know a lot of stores will send some things to other stores mid-sale, where its got more chance of selling.

My sister works at Marks. According to her they get shipped off to the outlet stores , some get distributed to womens refuges and rape crisis centres but possibly that is a local management decision. HTH
