I haven't actually gone into a jewellers as yet, I just made a couple of calls. One is valued at £1,600 and the other £2,500.

Sounds stupid, but am a bit embarrassed :(

One of the jewellers near me in scotland sells 'previously enjoyed' jewellery. I got a 1/3 carat diamond solitaire in platinum valued at £2k and it cost my partner £900.

I would hazard a guess that the person trading it in would have got less than £500 as the jeweller had it cleaned up, boxed etc so had to make a decent profit on it. I would guess you would get less than £1k for both but if they are sitting in a drawer, you don't get joy from wearing them and need the money sell them as they don't earn you anything lying in a drawer.

I am in Scotland also. If I thought I could get £1,000 for both I would sell, but I was being offered nothing like it.

It is Stephen Henderson jewellers in Dundee so might be worth a look on their website and a phone call if you don't live too far away. They have regular radio adverts about the previously enjoyed watches and jewellery.

  • In my opinion and I have look into it before.

You will get much more selling it privately, for example on ebay.

If you sell iit to a business, they would want to make money on top of it and then sell it to a private person.
  • Try ebay, I sold some gold emerald diamond jewellry last year on there. Not worth anywhere near as much as your rings but I still got more than the jewellers offered. The ring was valued at £150, I got £50 on ebay. The earrings & necklace were worth about £250, I got £90. Also the stuff I was selling was quite old fashioned, and needed a wee shine up but it sold no bother.
Worth a shot.. Just be sure to mention the clarity etc of the diamond...
