Can 6+ year old creditor affect a house purchase??

Hi!

I have finally been approved for a mortgage after spending several years repairing my credit score clearing debts. However, I currently have two creditors left, one of which gets a payment every month and has done for several years and the default has dropped off my credit file. The other is a significant sum of which the default is not listed on my credit file. This company have not made contact for over 6 years, nor have had a payment from me either. The debt is joint with an ex partner who has had contact with the creditor within the last year, therefore the debt cannot be statute barred.

My question is, that if I proceed and buy a property will the previous creditors be able to put a stop to the process, or notify the mortgage lender, basically can they have any impact on me buying a property??? I wouldn't want to go through the process and then have the mortgage withdrawn before completion of the purchase. Since applying for the mortgage a creditor unknown to me has been calling several times a week.

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you
