Static hair help

Any tips for how to de-fuzz my hair? I suffer a lot with static, I'm always getting jolts from just about anything metal and now I'm finding half of my hair sticks to my face and neck and the other half frizzes up and flies around.
I use conditioner and a heat-protection cream before blow-drying and I've tried using argan oil on the ends of the hair overnight and an oil spray on my hair during the day if it is especially unruly. I've tried hairspray after brushing my hair in a morning but even freeze-hold doesn't maintain order.
My hair is currently crackling when I move my head! Is there anything I can do apart from chopping it all off?

Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

Its likely your hair is just showing the effects of the static you are building up elsewhere in your body. Have you actually tried to prevent yourself charging up in the first place? eg only wear leather soled shoes, using cotton clothing rather than synthetic fibres or wool, using a humidifier etc?0

A humidifier is a good idea. I work in a very dry environment with no fresh air circulating so I bet I'd feel better for that. I'm not quite as frazzly when I'm not in work. Unfortunately I work in the kind of place where I'm expected to be groomed to the teeth!Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0
