Use a gradual tanner - you can build it up to the colour you want then, without getting streaky or orange.

And please don't use sun beds, they cause cancer - would you give yourself cancer to look a bit browner?

I hadnt even thought about this until I read this thread. My family is Italian and I have Olive skin which is quite "tanned" anyways. Although after years of patchy "sitting-in-the-garden" type tans I have a patchy colour where my bra straps sit which could pose a problem as my dress is strapless. I'm contemplating getting small capped sleeves though which should solve that problem or I might go for one of them tanning moisturisers.

They can cause cancer yes but so does the sun, so does eating a processed diet so does drinking alcohol.

So many things cause cancer we might as well live in a bubble!
  • I think everything looks better with a tan, but I wouldnt ever recommended sunbeds, gradual tanners seem to work best!

Thanks everyone, I think I'll stick to my orginal plan, & maybe use 1 of the tinted moisturisers to add a bit of warmth to my skin

Actually, the sun WITHOUT UV creams on can give you cancer. With them, the risk is significantly reduced - you obviously have never had to deal with the horror of carcinoma or melanoma - they rip families apart, cause untold misery, pain and suffering, and usually result in anything from small scarring to physical disfigurement, depending on the size and location.

I've had to deal with them, and cleaning up chemo vomit is not something I would ever advocate for the sake of looking a bit browner, when there are sunless tanning products available, some even with build in SPF to help stop cancer.

As with all the things you've said, they are all choices, but why would you give yourself cancer for the sake of vanity?

Dont get a tan - be pale and interesting - you don't need to look like David Dickinson on your wedding day.!
