Where to buy genuine manuka honey?

Options
I've been reading up a bit on manuka honey and the ratings and apparently ratings of 10+ etc and jars that state 'active' manuka aren't the same as a jar that is labelled umf 10+

I've had a look at ocado and holland and Barrett where I would usually shop and there are a lot of manukas simply labelled as 'active 10' or '10+' so not sure what to make of these

Can anyone recommend any genuine websites selling manuka honey with a umf of at least 10+?

TIA
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

  • "In the wake of the high premium paid for mānuka honey, the majority of product now labelled as such worldwide is counterfeit or adulterated. According to research by UMFHA, the main trade association of New Zealand mānuka honey producers, whereas 1,700 tons of mānuka honey are made there annually representing almost all the world's production, some 10,000 tons of produce is being sold internationally as mānuka honey, including 1,800 tons in the UK."

thanks - I read this in a which report this month as well which is why I looked into the umf rating! Its blended with other honeys or adulterated with sugar..i figured companies like ocado or h&b would ensure that they werent selling fake manuka which is why i looked there first

thanks for the link will check this out

Not sure how far this is true but Comvita claim they do the real deal. Sold in Wholefoods and Holland & Barrett.

thanks, i had a look at comvita and will try that next time, but for now ive ordered rowse manuka nap 10+ - it says on their website that npa is equivalent to the umf rating and that they check the honey for activity on arrival from new zealand ...what swung it for me was that i could get it delivered by ocado and the squeezy bottle!

    thanks!

  • No wonder it's mostly counterfeit, it's selling for 23 times the price in Tesco!
