Working for the Police as a Communications Officer or Dispatcher

Thanks Amandada – that is nice to hear.
Tiddlywinks – I have thought about that and I don’t want to dismiss it. Back in 2001 when I was 22 I sat by my mum’s bedside and held her hand as she died of cancer over a week – anything I have had to deal with since then has been easy. Also I run ultramarathons and when you are stood on the start line knowing you are about to run 50 miles (or more) your actually fitness only gets you so far – you have to be mentally very strong.
Anyway I’ve only just filled in the pre-application questionnaire so a long way to go yet! Thanks everyone for your comments though.0 -
I used to be a Communications Officer for Kent Police. Worked there for 4 years.
Interesting job and great people to work with. Started off on 999 calls, then progressed to public calls before becoming a dispatcher.
Personally id say go for it0 -
Thanks for that Rogue – that is good to hear! I’ve filled in the ‘pre-application questionnaire’ and got through that ok, and now have the application form itself to fill in. I’ll let you know how I get on.0
