My friend has been off sick since 2.12.13 and isnt sure when she will be back. Shes concerned when her six months on full pay will end, as she needs to obviously prepare for half pay.
I would have thought her employer would have had more interaction with her but nothing.
Ive advised her the six months is up on the 2.6.14 but she thinks its 2.5.14.
Any thoughts? How does one work this out?
Thanks

Wouldn't be best for her to contact the HR Dept or her line manager they are the ones who can best answer her questions.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

and has she contacted them? Some companies keep alot of contact some don't. Neither are really wrong as long as its done rightDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0

Also bear in mind that it's normally six months full pay for sickness within the last 12 months, i.e. if your friend has taken any sick leave before this episode this will be counted in as well and reduce the entitlement.
I'm a line manager and have had a direct report on long term sick - I did keep in contact, particularly around salary reductions and doctor appointments but, generally, there wasn't regular contact.0 -
Companies keep in contact and then get accused of harassing.
as long as she keep sending in the fit notes they may just leave them alone till they say they are looking to return to work.
Time to look at the budget and sort out getting rid of anything she can't afford.
might be an idea to point them at debtfreewanabee to look at doing a SOA and budgeting.0 -

As 2 December was a Monday and that was the first day of sickness, I would count full calendar months. So six months end on 31 May 2014 (a couple of days will make little difference to money coming in). That also assumes that there were no other sick days in the previous twelve months.
Is there any likelihood of a return to work in May? Even on reduced hours?0 -
It depends on the condition. If it is a condition like stress or depression many employers will just seek medical notes and leave the person be. This is partially so that they do not exasperate the condition for the employee.
I would contact HR and mention that (she) is aware that pay rates will soon change and could they advise when.0 -
They do have a duty to keep a healthy line of communication open but are always careful that it doesn't start to become 'harrasment' so it is a tricky area for them. I had a period off sick and sent a weekly email to touch base with my line manager with updates etc. It might be helpful if your friend starts to do something like that.Debt Free 08/08/2014

Defiantly keep sending your sick notes,if posted and if you can by recorded service the your covered,I used to send them to my employer and the next time I spoke to a hr they never received them.
You can always see if the employer will boost your money with holiday, you're still entitled to it.0 -

Here is a link to how it works, and if she needs to claim ESA:

LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0
