Monday 21st April - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

  • Good afternoon, Hope I have not started a double thread but I couldn't see one. Well I am glad to say that I did not eat too much chocolate yesterday, hope everyone had a good Easter.

    My list for today:
    Do paid work
    Do some course work
    Clean the house
Organise diary for the rest of this week
Sort Avon books ready for going out tomorrow
Have some rest, as not feeling to great today
    All meals from stores
    Print paperwork and update accounts

I think that is everything that I need to get done today, Hope everyone has a good bank holiday Monday x

    Hi!

Minnie, don't overdo the housework! Sounds like a lot of those jobs might not be too bad for resting. Looks like a productive day though. =D

Honestly? I have no idea what to do today.

Think this might be a bit of a cry for help actually, but I come and go from here, and this thread, but usually only when I'm doing 'well'. But, I've managed to max out the cards again, and I'm waiting for payday and feeling really rubbish. This keeps happening though, and it's so easy for me to just think 'Ah, I'll pay it off', but I probably could have paid everything off by now about three times.

How do you all cope with those moments when you think "yeah, I can 'treat myself' to a new book/game/dvd?"

I don't find bacon cheaper than sausage unless you use really manky bacon? I went T'Asda today and 6 decent sausages were £3 but 12 slices of average bacon was £2.59!

I'd rather spend £3 on 6 decent sausages, push the boat out and have 2 or 3 in a sandwich and put the rest into my famous (in my house, it's Mrs Sam_In_Leeds fave) sausage-pasta!

My DFW today was I went to Asda with a shopping list and £14 in my pocket and actually tottted up the totals before I hit the checkout (I even managed to resist paying £2.39 for Reese's white choc peanut butter cups - One of the many things I'm missing post-New York!)
I spent 90% of my money on women, drink and fast cars. The rest I wasted. ...

  • Bacon and sausgae butties! If you really want to be DF you need to learn to love gruel - LOL :rotfl:

The coop had me fuddled for a few minutes - bacon from a chicken coop? But then the LBM came and I realised you meant a certain store.....

Today I have cooked 2 loaves of bread, 12 pasties, a batch of flapjack, some cookies and a pan of scouse. Updated spreadsheet, walked the dogs, 3 loads of laundry line dried. Listed 2 more items on eBay.

Looking forward to work tomorrow, all this domesticity is knackering!

Have a good rest of the evening all.

I found the best way for me is to actually plan treats. I would actually plan a dvd night but buy one from cash converters (£1)or eBay at a push. I use to always get the latest DVDs but I learnt it's just as good 6 months down the line as it is on release date.

Books, I swap with friends so new books for free.

There's always a cheaper way to do something. Also I only take cash to shops for things I need, leave cards at home. Credit cards just chop - it's harsh but works x

Get near to paying off my loan, just a couple off weeks left :-)

Next will be c/c which is £1800. I don't know whether to hit it big or put some savings in and earn interest as c/c is 0% or maybe a mixture off the two x

I would count it as savings if you were going to have sausage in the first place. I swapped mine for croissants as I found I really like them and there a lot cheaper. Not that I buy from shop very often but when I do x
