O/S Daily Monday 21st April 2014

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, wispy cloud and sun shining.

DH and myself up and enjoying a cuppa, boys still in their pits.

Yesterday we had a change of plan and we all went to my parents to have lunch with everyone, DH re-arranged our commitment to another date. It was great to spend some time with everyone, and we all shared some more great food, wine, chat and laughter.

Today is going to be a lazy chilled day – I’m going to do a roast lamb dinner with all the trimmings, I haven’t made a proper roast for a while. The lamb is a whole leg of lamb so there will be lots of meat – so I’ll have enough for another meal – this I’ve menu planned for Wednesday night – it will be a big pot of gravy with the meat re-heated in it, I’ll serve it with pots and veg – to use up the LO’s. I’ve menu planned for the rest of the week too, so hoping I won’t be needing any top up shops from the SM – as I still have loads of food in the fridge/freezer and storecupboard.

This is the last day of the holidays/bank holiday weekend here for us all, both boys are back to college/school tomorrow and DH and myself are back to work in the morning.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Hope you are all enjoying the Easter weekend, looks like the weather could be ok here (it's not raining anway). Washing in the machine, one load already on the line.

Got back from York last night, didn't really enjoy the weekend. Loved York, it's a beautiful city but there were 9 of us away for a hen weekend/30th birthday celebration for one of the bridesmaids who is also a good friend of our family. The bride to be, her mum and her gran were there and seemed to close ranks. All they wanted to do was sit and have breakfast for 3 hours then walk a few yards and go for coffee for another 3 hours. Thankfully the 30th birthday girl and a couple of others wanted to see something of the city so we could escape but it didn't go down very well. Bride quite boring, didn't want to go out with the bridesmaids even for a meal and a drink (can't say I blame her for not wanting to go out and get drunk and making a fool of herself). Bride's Gran critisised everything I said and the hotel cost £175 for 2 nights. I could have spent that money somewhere else and been more than happy. Sorry, rant over.

Anyway, got home and DD and DS2 had built the shed I bought a couple of weeks ago so that cheered me up.

Not doing much today I don't think, hope you all enjoy your day. Hugs to those not feeling so good, I will go and catch up with your news. Take care. XX

    Morning all
Sunny here today, yesterday we had rain & thunder & lightening, the rain was so heavy that hubby got marooned in the shed for a while. I spent time in the kitchen, I made 2 loaves of bread and a plate of brownies as well as roast lamb.
Last day of the holiday for me today, can't say I'm looking forward to going back, I might make a batch of scones to take in with me to cheer everybody up.
My mission today is to tidy up the yarn & fabric that has built up i one corner of the living room, from where I've been crafting away. I shall sort out just enough yarn to finish a blanket, tidy the quilt fabric into 2 bags, one for each quilt & then the corner will look better.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Good morning everyone :)

Had some rain yesterday afternoon and evening but the sun is shining again now.

Last day of the Easter holidays today so not too much planned, another chilling day and a bit of time spent getting things ready for work. DH has already said, oh well at least it's only a 4 day week and only a couple of weeks to next bank holiday weekend!

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning :D
    It's a heck of a lot warmer today :T
Luna has been walked. Plans today are to bake cakes and scones. Treated myself to some clotted cream the other day so Cream tea is in order ;)
House needs a tidy round and Hoover and kitchen needs a good blitz too. BM is on, WM going on shortly.
Kids go back to school tomorrow  not sure where the last two weeks have gone. Feel kinda sad but also a tiny bit relieved that I can get my routine back :o

Tea might be a stir fry, haven't decided yet need to check what I have in freezer.

Hugs and spoons all round xx

    Hi all
Moorhen, I have developed a twitch in my eye, lol, that's how much I'm looking forward to it!
I'm about half way through clearing out the pile of rubbish in the living room, I've unpicked zips & saved buttons from old items of clothing & saved a bag fabric for the 2 quilts I have planned. I've sorted out the yarn for 3 knitted scarves & 2 crochet blankets, I have 'project bags' ready to grab & go for when I want something to do. I've also unearthed my kindle & put it on charge, I shall be taking it to work daily as I will be lunching alone now people have been asked to change their break times.
I have a Dr's appointment tomorrow as they are struggling to get my blood pressure down, MIL gets her results tomorrow, DD1 is 33 weeks & has her bag packed & is all ready at home, DD2 is 20 weeks & is feeling lots better, it's a miracle she's hung on to the baby as she's been so unwell. Stressed, moi, much!
As Judi says onwards & forwards, it can only get harder, lol.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
