Tax relief on work miles

My boyfriend is a security guard. He works at various sites for a few weeks or months at a time, but he only ever works from one site per shift. He has been told by a colleague that he is able to claim tax relief on his mileage because he doesn't have a permanent place of work, but I thought you could only claim for traveling between work sites. Who is correct?

Does the employer pay any mileage?0 -
If they are all sites he attends regularly then for the purposes of tax HMRC view this as commuting to your normal place of work.Officially in a clique of idiots0
