Restaurants in Edinburgh

Hi, im going to edinburgh on Friday for 4 days and would appreciate some recommendations for nice affordable restaurants. i know there is a thread called eating in edinburgh but the last post is from 2011 and restaurants change so much

There is a fab place on George Street call Mad Dogs.
It is in a basement and you really need to look for the door.
I chanced upon it in December and it was brilliant!
Great food, good service and amazingly inexpensive!
Would always be my first choice!

For some its £10 a head for others £100.

good point. around £12 for a main or less

There's quite a few places around George Street that fit your budget I've yet to have a bad meal around that way, Caf! Andaluz has a decent set menu.

Also a wander down Rose Street and the lanes off it can be a good way to find some gems, Wildfire was damn good last time I was there, again decent set lunch and pre-theatre deals. Element comes recommended so that's my next outing.
