Gammon in slow cooker

Options
Hi everyone.

I am thinking of trying this, either to use as cold cuts or to make pea and ham soup.

Has anyone got any tips or do I just bung it in with water and cook on low/med/high??

Thanks,

Anon!

I normally do mine sat on an onion cut in two, some carrots and celery (if I have it). I pop in two bay leaves, and then add either a can of cider or some water.

I'm with MrsAtobe - carrots, celery, bay leaves, maybe a parsnip, a few cloves and/or juniper berries - and you'll have a stock/soup base to die for, as well as cooked gammon with a lovely depth of taste.

I've done this with just water, a vegetable stock cube and a packet of soaked dried peas to specifically make the cooking water into pea & ham soup.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)
