Defaults?

Hi there

Ive been on a DMP with step change for coming up to 2 years. I have 6 debts, with 4 different companies.

Ive checked my record on noddle, and MB*A defaulted me a year ago, my Ll*yds loan defaulted two months ago, and the others are all showing up to date, I assume because Im making the regular payments agreed. I had a credit card with Ll*yds (who have been an absolute nightmare to deal with) but this hasn't defaulted.

My question is, will the others default me at some point? My DMP should be finished in a another 4 years, so I was hoping the defaults would be gone by then? If the other companies default at some point, can I get the dates changed back to when I began the DMP??

Thanks

They can default you at any time, but it will be dated from when the original breach took place, for example, when your account went to collections, or after your last payment was made, they wont add on extra years.

Some have been known to default after the last payment has been made. You then have to complain to get them backdated.

You could write to the firms asking what information they intend to report for the account presuming you keep up the current payment levels. If they then go back on that you have something for the FOS to beat them with.

Not if you keep them showing up to date, they won't.
  • thanks for the replies. So does that mean I could have defaults on my record for longer than 6 years after I went onto the DMP? How will I know when my accounts have gone to collections? Ll*ds have talked about it a lot, but done very little!

Defaults stay for 6 years. So you get screwed for longer if they report late markers or arrangements then default you after a few years.

Only way you know they have gone to collections is when a different department writes to you.
