CPP letters say on the back

If you are currently bankrupt or subject to an Individual Voluntary Arrangement, then you should pass this cheque on to your Trustee or Supervisor.

You are not currently bankrupt so can't see how you could be blamed for taking the letter at face value and banking the cheque.

That's really interesting. Why is this treated differently to PPI?

It isn't. If you are bankrupt and receive redress for anything, if it was from the period or before of bankruptcy, you have to pass it to the OR.

I thought that PPI was if you had been bankrupt and it was for the period before bankruptcy. So even years later?

ETA the wording of the back of the letter sounds as if it only refers to the 12 months of active bankruptcy prior to AD.

You can't complain about the sale of PPI from any period prior to bankruptcy.

The privilege of complaining rests with the OR.

If you do complain about the sale of PPI form the period before you became bankrupt, and are succesful. the OR can demand any monies redressed.

The same with any monies received from what are pre-bankruptcy assets. So if the CPP redress was from a period prior to bankruptcy, it belongs to the OR.

  • Okay, so then the wording given on the rear of the letter is wrong/misleading. It makes it sounds as if it differs from the PPI set up.
