Spend on new house or wait?

We are completing next Friday and we want to but a few things this weekend. We have the cash in the bank to do this so no credit cards or anything involved. Would you wait till after completion or not? I don't want to without a bed or washer for more than a few days so want to get spending! They will only check our credit report surely before completion and Iif I'm not overdrawn it won't matter will it? Thanks.

I would wait until everything is finalised.

I'd wait too. Obviously we all hope that your purchase goes smoothly but I've seen a few stories on here where people have ordered sofas early, sale has been delayed or fallen through and they can't cancel. I'd have thought beds and washing machines could be delivered quickly, it is sofas that can take a while!

Definitely wait - you might find once you get there that there are other priorities for your cash. We once moved into a house where on the last day the sellers removed a load of things like wall lights, leaving the upstairs electrics in a perilous state. We had to pay an electrician to sort it all out. In another the heating didn't work ( early January!) and we had to spend on electric heaters and all live in one room for a bit.

Beds and washers are way down the list of priorities I think. But go out and have a look around and choose the one you want for when you are ready to spend though, don't want to take all the fun away!

We've all slept on airbeds and used the launderette (to say nothing of take aways) in those first few weeks of a new house. I hate the first days after moving, so many horrors waiting to be discovered!!

Wait - there's a May bank holiday coming soon if you're after a bargain ....

It's better to have a house without a bed, than a bed without a house.

Holiday Haggler I've been Money Tipped!
It is so easy to do this, however the reality is that you will be so knackered on the day of the move that you will not want the extra furniture to put together!

It takes a while to create the perfect home, and it really is unlikely that everything will be perfect on day 1. Don't give yourselves the stress!

Whenever I've sold & bought a new property I've always bought a lot of what I'll be needing for the new place in advance of completion. I've always kept my eyes open for any bargain buys so when I've seen them, I've snapped them up.

It's made life a lot easier for me once I have moved as I haven't had to try to source everything I'm going to need & I've been able to concentrate on getting some of the rooms reasonably ready up & running.I've appreciated not have to face countless weekends of trudging round trying to find stuff I like at a good price.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
