Wasp issues. Please help!!

A few of years ago we had a wasps nest in our roof. Luckily the entrance to the nest was not near any of our outside doors, so we just left them alone to come and go as they wanted.


We left the nest until well into the winter and then went up into the loft and got the nest out (by then the wasps are gone/dead) and we could then dispose of the nest, so that the following spring/summer there would be no more wasps using the same nest.


We have had no more problems with wasps since:)

I am scared of wasps too, but every year I put a few drops of citronella oil around the window frames will keep them from flying in from outside. Won't help if they are in the roof, of course and can smell a bit strong, but it seems to last a while - a few weeks for each application.

Thanks for all your suggestions everyone. I'll look into all of them. I'll have the most wasp proofed home ever!

The one I saw was absolutely massive too Lamewolf really hope it's a coincidence!

I know I'm not allergic to them as I was stung as a young child so feel a bit of a wimp now. Some of you have genuine reasons to be terrified.
