Reapplying after a decline with Santander

Has anyone had experience of this please?

We were declined because of a problem with the credit search. We looked into it and discovered we were not showing as on the electoral roll. This has all been corrected so now our credit files are correct.

So now we will go back to Santander and try again.

If it is still a decline do I accept the response we can't tell you why other than it's something on your credit file? Or can I insist they can look and tell me?

anyone any experience of this please?

Also now my experian is corrected will I be able to go straight back to Santander or is there a set time I need to wait?

thanks for any help

You are assuming the Electoral Roll omission was the issue.

    It may not have been.

Refer to your original independent mortgage broker, or if you did not use one, engage one.

It's more an educated guess than a blind assumption. I have had it confirmed by Santander the ONLY issue was the credit report. Having examined the credit report the only incorrect item was the electoral roll which has now been corrected.

What other credit report features would lead to a decline with Santander? And that is my question - if it is a decline again are they abliged to tell me why in more detail than "just the credit report"? Thanks

Also it clearly says on their intermediaries site that a low credit score will be returned if the applicant is not on the voter rolls and they rely on Experian for that information.

so I KNOW that is at least A reason for the decline.

Yes the Experian report has been corrected to show registration since 2005 at the current address with no time of absence. But this really isn't what I'm asking about

being accepted or declined is always based on many things. Not just you being on the electoral role but also other history as well as ability to pay. You can certainly re-apply but the is never any guarantee that you will be accepted.

Have you not thought of applying else where or is there a reason that you want to stay with Santader?

I have mentioned that Santander said everything else worked just the credit report was a problem.

Historically abbey do not do a new search for 60 days, so if you re-apply they would use the same search (this prevents multiple searches on your record) however, with MMR, if you have previously applied before 4th April then a new search will be done which hopefully will reflect the amendment to the voters roll.

No it was just last week. It was suggested by the person I saw in branch to sort out the problem and they'll do a new search. I think the 30 days is if there was no need for a second search. There would be no point me reapplying if they didn't do another search.
