Thanks Peacefulwaters, I was wondering if I had left it too long and after googling SOL it seems 12 years is the limit,
A double thanks is in order as the same page gave me the details of "statute barred"
we had an account with Lloyds tsb that had an overdraft with about £1200 but we left them as we had paid that much in overdraft fees, It went to a collection agency but we informed them we disputed the amount as we thought the charges were unfair and we were in the process of claiming them back. We made no payments or any further contact and 6 years on it seems thay cannot legally recover that debt. Thanks peacefulwaters.
Back to our Ocean finance loan. I think I will put this one down to a lesson learned,
1. the amount thought I might be owed probably isn't near the true
amount.
2. due to the time lapsed even if I were owed something it does't look good that it is so long ago.
3. i would have to deal with Ocean finance again (request contracts) and I doubt they will be helpful with this matter.
Being older and wiser I now look after my finances so no longer use any of these specialist loan pirates.0
