    Hi
I think you can sometimes buy things cheaper than making from scratch but thats because the raw ingredients aren't great & they've padded it out.
I personally prefer to cook from scratch because I like to know what I'm eating.

Staples such as bolognese sauce, pasta sauce, chilli, etc can all be made as a batch, sub-divided into portions and frozen.

Take out a portion for your evening meal in the morning. Place the frozen portion in the fridge in the morning, it'll be defrosted by the evening and you can just heat it up in no time.

5 mins to cook Pasta, whilst cooking up sauce separately, combine the two for a tasty meal.

Slow cooker lamb tagine served with a packet of flavoured cous cous.

Sausage casserole, put all ingredients together night before in a casserole dish put in fridge transfer to oven in the morning with jacket potatoes, and set the time to come on.

chilli in the slow cooker served with a carton of micro rice.

Make enough that theres some left over for the following week.

Do as much prep as you can the night before. Then there minimum effort when you get in and its quick to prepare.
