Company car tax

in Cutting tax
Hi all
My wife has been given the option of taking a company car instead of her car allowance that she currently receives. My gut says that she'll be better off not taking it but need to do some calculations to prove myself right. She is a 40% tax payer.
Say for example the years BIK is £6,000. The tax payable would be £2,400. Is it a simple case of her tax code being reduced by 240 points, or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks
