Will this cause me major problems in 2 years?

late payments and mortgage application
Hey,

I have 8 late payments ( only (1) markers) on my credit file.

If I was to make every payment on time from now on, what impact would these have on a mortgage application in 2 years time? I know that they stay on file for 6 years but would 2 years of perfect pay

No one can tell you. Banks have their own internal scoring system which often doesnt give a fig about your 'credit rating' or anything else. With the advent of the new regulations (last week I think) where they basically turn you upside down, inside out and demand to know how many times you've had sex in the last few years, I think it quite likely that the marker will come back to bite you in the !!!!!. All you can do is the best you can and try to be 'good' for the next two years and dont give them any more ammunition. Life sometimes gets in the way granted, but otherwise, do the best you can.

Does 'being good' mean having sex or not having sex?

Depends on your proclivities, as per the man in London the other day being led down the street by his Dominatrix.

Staying away from the slightly off topic comments...

    It will have some impact.

People do get mortgages with 2 year old defaulted settled accounts, so you ought to get something.

Try posting on the mortgage board.
