Hi, I received a letter a couple of months ago about a debt with Arrow Global who I believe are collecting on behalf of a catalogue. I disputed the debt and they have written back to me today saying our client has advised they are unable to provide any documentation regarding this account, the balance remains outstanding
My question is if they cannot provide any documentation can they still chase this and secondly the date of default is March 2008 so over 6 years ago, would it be statute barred? I haven't acknowledged the debt in any of my correspondence but would the fact I've written to them change this?
TIA

Hi mandy
I believe there is a "Prove it" letter template on this very website that could be used in this scenario? I will find the link and post it here if no one else does in the meantime.
If they have no paperwork it is likely to make their job harder, yes. Whether the debt is statute barred has less to do with when the account officially defaulted, and more to do with when payments were actually first missed.

Dennis
