As it's coming up to Easter...

Just a reminder to never feed your dog chocolate!

I am sure no MSEers are guilty of this but it shocks me the amount of people I know who feed their dogs chocolate and say a little won't do them any harm!:mad::(

Or more relevant to those amongst us with dogs of the more ingenious problem solving variety - even if you think the chocolate is where they can't possibly reach it, they probably can.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I got my two dogs a beef marrowbone each for their "easter egg".

I'm sure they'll be enjoyed much more than chocolate would have been.

Yep, my friend's dog scoffed a whole Easter egg right before she was meant to go away (this was only a couple of weeks ago).
He probably wouldn't be alive if they hadn't taken him straight to the vets.

A couple of years ago one of my in laws' labradors managed to eat a whole box of ferrero rochers - how he got into the bunny-shaped plastic box I don't know. They just sort of laughed it off and the dog seemed/seems fine (wasn't taken to the vet) but I'd have been frantic! I often have to stop him being fed tidbits of things I don't think are suitable when we're visiting.
  • At Christmas a visitor had left an open selection box on the table and while our back was turned the dog managed to eat some including the wrapper, ... thankfully she thew up afterward. We have to be careful as she seems very attracted to the smell of chocolate!

One of my girls managed to steal three whole chocolate oranges over christmas (seperate occasions) each one having been purchased to replace the last one she scoffed! And although each one was put away in increasingly clever spots she managed to find and eat them all. Luckily, being over 10 stone the chocolate had no effect whatsoever on her which is a good job as she is a terrible chocoholic and would eat through walls if she thought there was chocolate in there, nightmare!!

They can be so sneaky on their quests for forbidden foods! My schnauzer would go through you for food, my other one isn't so fussed. OHs family went to feed her maltesers one day, I nearly had a fit! I won't even feed the 'dog chocolate' that you can get. It always seems to be in the Christmas stockings.

I've never had a dog steal chocolate although I did have a cat who knocked all the chocolate baubles off the Christmas tree and ate them.

However my last Dane learnt how to open my large American fridge freezer.... both doors.... the day we came home to that wasn't the best I've ever spent.... She'd been somewhat ill after her massive scoffathon, but I think it had happened an hour or so before as she seemed pretty bouncy when we got home.

We moved the fridge freezer into the dining room after that..
