    Answer one of the below:

Tips for dealing with eczema during Spring and Summer

Temperature: Hot summer nights can exacerbate dry skin conditions like eczema. If the skin gets too hot during the night it can feel itchy leading to restless nights. Try to keep your child’s room nice and cool, use light cotton layers for bedding and avoid playing energetic games before bed which may make their skin hot and uncomfortable.
Bathtime: A daily lukewarm bath helps to cleanse the skin. The warmer weather allows us to lower the bath temperature so turn the cold tap on for a few seconds longer than usual. As soaps can be drying to the skin use a specialist bath product such as Oilatum Junior for dry, irritated and eczema prone skin instead. Oilatum Junior softens and hydrates the skin, preventing future dryness.
After bathing: Pat the skin dry with a soft towel rather than rubbing or brisk drying, and then apply a cream like Oilatum Junior Cream to seal in the water that has been absorbed into the skin during bathing. This will also help establish a barrier against further drying.
Allergens:! Sometimes protection from allergen exposure may help your child’s eczema prone skin. Your doctor may suggest limiting exposure to allergens like house dust mites. This can be done by encasing mattresses and pillows in dust-proof covers, frequently washing bedding and soft toys in hot water, and removing carpeting. However it is difficult to completely rid the environment of allergens.
Swimming: Babies and children love swimming – whether it be in the sea or the pool. The only problem is that it can impact their skin. Always make sure you rinse them off with clean water to remove chlorine or salt, and then apply a moisturising cream straight away.
