SC Clearance - 3Months & still waiting

I was employed by a company in January 2014 and passed all their internal clearances which one of them is equivalent to an SC.

The role I was successful for involved me working for a customers site which required direct SC which the customer sent off for in early Jan.

It is now April and all the customer has been able to tell me that its still in the process of clearance.
My company has chased the customer a few times with the same results and been told there are others who have been waiting for some months however most colleagues have had theirs within 4-6weeks.

Any one experienced long wait times, any reasons why it could take so long and any advise of how to approach this matter?

Thanks

SC? Do you mean security clearance?

If so, it could be a DBS check, which take as long as they like coming back; some take a week or two, others take months. Have you lived in different local authorities, as if you are having an enhanced DBS it is likely they will be waiting for the LA to get back to them, as you are checked against list 99 and a few others.

It could also be disclosure scotland; my last one took 3 months.

If it is a past check (such as 10 year work history) they will be waiting for employers.

SC and DBS are different. I needed both.

My recent SC took about 5 weeks, but I'd had one recently so I would already have some history on their system.

For a new SC with now previous SC, how long does it take on average to complete?
