Right, had Aprils statement in so grand total outstanding is in my signature. Umm, lots of work to do!
So April was only a few bits and bobs. But it is all to the good.
I have done my first month saving my redundancy fund, so that's also heading in the right direction.
This month I am hoping for some ebay sales and when I go to the post office I can send another lot of odd gold, that never got done last month, hoping for about £50 from that alone.
I have some Topcashback which should come in at the end of the month will have to wait and see.
Had a meeting regarding the redundancy situation it now seems we can pretty much negotiate our leaving date! Which I am hoping to make the end July 2015, so I am at home for the summer hols -who wants to work in summer anyway:rotfl:MFW April 2014 £86,169 end date July 2032:mad: Interest only!

Hi Ams,
Good luck, you have made a really good start, I will keep on reading with interest.

Thanks for the support. At the moment it's only little bits as I am saving the redundancy fund and for a new fridge freezer. But everything should be in place by the end of the year. Then it will be all systems go for about 6 or so months until I am made redundant. After that I have no idea what will happen as I don't know what job I will have!
But anything going toward the mortgage will help. I have a horrible feeling that we will have to remortgage the balance at the end, but I theory we will still have another 10 years to work before state pension age so could be doable although I would prefer not have to continue it on.MFW April 2014 £86,169 end date July 2032:mad: Interest only!

Agh! Think I am going backwards!
This month the home phone and toaster have given up the ghost.
We have brought our youngest his first proper phone as it was from someone from work selling it cheap, but still an expense we weren't planning till a little later in the year but overall saved us money.
Today had a noise from under my car and think it might be the beginning of needing my exhaust replaced.
Not sure if I mentioned it but I hit a pheasant a couple of weeks ago and that was £140 to replace. so that bill has come through on the credit card today.
And now no Child Tax Credits were put into my account today.
. Although I am bracing myself for a major overpayment bill as DH has been on a temp secondment that was meant to last 3 months and he is still there 9 months later, but I cant update anything officially as he hasn't got anything in writing to change who he works for (all subsidiary/head office different company thing)
Other than that I can still re budget and still get the fridge and emergency fund done by Dec 14. But don't feel as I am getting anywhere fast.
But I have finally managed to cancel my eldest sons mobile contract so that will save me money as I can get him on a PAYG sim.
Keep plodding:mad:MFW April 2014 £86,169 end date July 2032:mad: Interest only!

Hi Ams, is it worthwhile looking for a new job now so you don't need to consider JSA or worry about the stress when it does happen? When I was made redundant the worst thing by far was the waiting!Mortgage Apr 18 £417,894 BTL Mar 18 £162,857

£140 to replace a pheasant, that does sound expensive. I'd spitting feathers too haha.
Good luck with your journey

Ha ha.:D No it was £140 to replace the grill it smashed! Should have proof read my post!
It's worth it to me to stay until the redundancy as before Christmas there was a reshuffle and I took an alternative job on more hours so my redundancy goes up. I am on a good hourly rate so wherever I go next will by a pay drop even on the same hours. So my plan is to stick it out get the money and put that in a pot towards a new car and hope I get another job quickly. At the mo I am not worried on the money front as I am getting more money on the new hours I am just stacking that up so I have a really healthy buffer.
Although, on the bad news front (again) the boiler is now making funny noises. We think it is just a switch in the circuit board clicking away like mad, so a new circuit board is in order. We have insurance on the boiler and it has been worth it's weight in gold but has a £50 call out fee. Just need to work out wether it an survive or call them out now. Will speak to DH tonight. The boiler is over 15 years old so we know at some point it will need replacing but we have £4000 put aside for that, which I think is more than we need but DH wants to use British Gas and their last quote was £3600.
We have a joke in our house called 'the list' if a job needs big money we put it on the list. Unfortunately it's getting longer with new carpets, bathroom, sofa etc etc.
So hey oh for now its a bit in savings and a bit off the mortgage. Don't know how much this month though as I haven't got to the post office for the gold yet as was waiting to go up with ebay parcels at the same time, but this new listing thing has put a delay on on that. This weekend I will get listing the ones I have scheduled and put on another 20.
Keep chipping away!MFW April 2014 £86,169 end date July 2032:mad: Interest only!

Just a thought. Does anybody out know of a reason why child tax credits would stop before you have even received your renewal to fill in? I have had no notification of anything. I know we will have been overpaid this year and am hoping they can take it out of next year but I think it may be over £5000 we owe so unsure if they will want a payment plan.
Looked on the Gov.uk website and it only mentions about bank holiday date changes, but I am paid on a Wednesday so this wouldn't apply, and it's this week it's stopped not last week if it was a mix up cos of bank holiday?
I dread trying to ring as it takes forever for you to get through all the security stuff to be told they are busy and it hangs up in you:mad:MFW April 2014 £86,169 end date July 2032:mad: Interest only!

Right, found out that tax credits were stopped as they now do the real time information thing so they already have your income prior you doing a renewal. Nice to have been told though as it was pure chances looked at my account. Unfortunately after going through the entitled to calculator a few times looks like my overpayment is about £4600, will have to wait and see.
Randomly received more shares from work due to some kind of rights issue thing. Don't understand it but I have £100 worth more shares that I have to wait for 5 years to mature. The rest I hold mature next week! (£1000) So that is part of my new car fund I will cash them in when I need to.
The mortgage hasn't had anything really to it this month just waiting for the statement for figures. But next month should be the gold money, ebay sales that I am waiting payment on and maybe a little more.MFW April 2014 £86,169 end date July 2032:mad: Interest only!
