What wine to get?

Does anyone have some suggestions for nice (but MSE cheap) wine?
I'm not a wine drinker, if ever I do it's something really sweet like Lambrusco Light (yes, I'm that cheap lol). Obviously the guests will have to drink it in the evening, so was hoping someone could give some suggestions if possible.
We were aiming to go to Costco or something and buy in bulk, but I don't want to buy 20 bottles of plonk and it tastes foul.
I've heard some places let you take back unopened bottles, so was going to Google that, but I'm actually after suggestions on the types of wine (wine names etc if possible) of what might be good to have. Beer/ Lagers are generally good from all angles, but wine can be a bit more of a mine field.

Hiya
Having looked at the selection at my local Costco recently I wasn't impressed and it was fairly expensive. If you are looking for good value wine I'd recommend buying some and trying it, but if you are looking for recommendations, I think the following represent very good value:
Zalze (white/red/rose) currently on offer at Waitrose for £5.99 (this is the wine we are having);
Banrock station Shiraz mataro (sometimes on offer for £4 at asda); in fact most branded wines are very drinkable: wolf blass, villa Maria, lindemans, Jacobs creek...0 -
If you see one and wonder what it's like, let me know. And I'll tell you if I've tried it (probably) and what I think of it.0

Tesco wine has some good offers at the moment ..
I dare not list any wines as you might say the are terrible
offer is posted on HUKD

It might not be perfect for you as you need to buy a couple of cases to get the discount to work0 -
Martin's weekly email contained an offer with Tesco which was something like an extra 25% off on some cases which were already 50% off? Worth having a look at - I certainly emailed it to my Mother for her approval (I am the same as you - I drink White Zinfandel and thats it).:j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j

Have you thought about going to France to get it? Depends on where you are though!0

At ours we waited till Tesco's did there 6 bottles for £x we had Pinot, Rojia and a Rose and then a nice prosecco for the toast
Don't forget though some places you have to pay corkage. Mine was £10 a bottle and £12 for sparkling so this is worth including in your figuresFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
We are serving Aldi's Toro Loco Tempranillo (Red) and the same Rose. Then I got a deal on McGuigan's Sauvignon Blanc for the white. The red and rose were £3 something and the white worked out less than a fiver a bottle. It's not the best wine in the world but it's better than some wedding wine I have had and I didn't want to run out so had to keep costs down!Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.0

One of my neighbours is quite into wine & every now & again I buy her a bottle of wine as a thank you. I usually buy it from Lidl & the most recent bottle I bought was Pinot Grigio & she was very complimentary about it.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Maybe a silly suggestion but can you make some from Wilko's kits? I'm using them at the mo and they come out pretty nice
And it's fun!!

We want to brew some cider for our wedding and I have seen the MOST adorable labels someone made on Pinterest with the ditty 'something old, something new, something borrowed and something brewed' - I love it!!! Totally going to make them up lol! :rotfl::rotfl::j Married to the Love of my Life 02.08.2014 - Now I'm Mrs E :j
