Hi all,

Firstly wanted to say thanks for all of the support I have already received from you all I don't know whether you need my history but here it is all be it watered down.

I met my hubby in 2000 he was married but seperated from the Ex he walked away from the marital home pretty much empty handed apart from his clothing he also signed the house over to the ex as part of divorce so she had a secure home for her and their DD he took all debts in his name with him.As soon as ex had his signiture she sold their house and walked away with 12k profit for herself. we moved in together jun 2001 into local authority accomodation with the intention to buy I became pregnant in Aug 2001 I was in my current job then and was in a place where I was being bullied at work I sought counselling through my employer during my couselling things came to the surface about my past things that happened to me as a child and I became very depressed I had months off work and was paid about £300p.m sick pay during my absence my partner was paying his ex wife £280 pm out of his £700 p.m wage we were desperately short of cash a lot of debts accumilated here.We also bought our first home together this completed 1st feb 2002 and our daughter was tragically prematurely stillborn 28th Feb 2002 This resulted in more time off work for me and I was soon pregnant again this time my son was born Feb 2003 healthy boy I suffered P.N depression and didn't really get back to work until Dec 03 in 2004 we were under intense pressure from creditors tried to obtain a secured loan but were unable to constant phonecalls and harassing letters we sold the house that august and got rehoused in council property on the grounds that we were now homeless we walked away with about £12,500 profit and most of this was ploughed into debts the remainder we still carry to this day.

Hubby is Self employed in a partnership with his father fuel costs are high because of my job I work about 20mins drive and I could get there by bus but would take two hours there and back hubby doesn't use the car for business but does use it to get to his dads for work where they use a van which was bought and owned by his father for £1000 about two years ago.
Our car finance is not in our name it is in my fathers so we could get the finance at a good rate we had insufficient space in our old car to carry our kids safely anyone know the impact of BR on the business or the car.

Hi, sorry to hear all you've been through. Could you clarify whether you're contemplating bankruptcy or looking for suggestions as to how you could cut down your outgoings?

A bit of both really we just want a solution to it all bankruptcy was recommended to us by CCCS but we are unsure of implications and are still essentially open to suggestions. I wasn't really sure where to post and plumped for here.

    Thanks

The gas and electricity look rather high and what does the maintenance cover if you're in a HA property?

gas and electricity are paid through prepayment meters and were with british gas am now in the process of switching to EDF energyas they seem to work out cheaper for us to break it down the cost is 15p.w gas in summer and 25 p.w in winter but I budget for this throughout the year.

electricity is £16 ish a week

car ins is under the car finance, tax and £46 per month
