I don't receive housing benefit, but I was under them impression it is paid over in cash to the claimant who then uses it to make a cash payment to their landlord. This must surely be the case otherwise no benefits claimant would ever be in arrears...
Think that's still in pilot stage isn't it?

As a general rule; HB is paid to the landlord for social tenants, whilst HB is paid to the tenant for private tenants. Universal Benefit is piloting paying HB directly to social tenants.

    Yes.

As a general rule. "drugs companies" are a better source of sundry chemical cures and vaccines than a bloke down the pub.:)

That's a lot of sarcasm for someone so clearly ignorant on the subject. Smallpox vaccines came about before there were pharmaceutical companies and the first few were found by individuals not organisations.

The first polio vaccine was found by someone working for a university, not a drug company: Jonas Salk, who had no profit motive for his work. To demonstrate, couresy of wikipedia:
His sole focus had been to develop a safe and effective vaccine as rapidly as possible, with no interest in personal profit. When he was asked in a televised interview who owned the patent to the vaccine, Salk replied: "There is no patent. Could you patent the sun?"[

If you're going to comment on matters you don't know anything about then it's probably better to pick ones that other people are also likely to know little about, or at least where finding information would take more than a google search and a couple of minutes.
Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Blackwhite bellyfeel double plus good...

I suppose I'd better curb my 'sarcasm' in future when penning would-be witty responses to the it's-all-a-conspiracy-against-the-working-man brigade for fear of upsetting the uber super-experts of the interweb.

    That's me told eh?:rotfl:
