Existing Sky Customer needing help and advice

I am confused. Please help!

I am existing sky + customer. I have multiroom and have had so for about 4 years now. I pay £47.00 per month and have movies!

What is the offer for someone in my position?

I ideally want my old sky box binned, my old sky + box relocated and a new sky + box downstairs.

Do I qualify and how much can I get my payments down to?

My old box keeps deleting things (even when I have selected keep) from the series link so future programmes never record. I just want to scream.

I love sky and don't want to leave but I feel that I am being ripped off at the moment!

The first question you have got to answer is are you in the middle of a twelve month contract????

You can get a new Sky + box for £99 plus £30 installation, they would probably move your old box at the same time and run some new coax in.
I can't see why you feel you are being ripped off, £ 47 pm is the price for the service you are receiving.
You could always cancel the movies and pay only £21 pm + £10 for multiroom.
or £15 pm + £10 for 2 mixes plus multiroom.

...and they will take your old box away for free!

Its worth phoning them and ask for what they can offer you.
I am thinking of cancelling my sky after many years just do not watch it much anymore, the odd footy match and that is it, the wife just watches all the soaps on BBC/ITV.

The same problem still happens with the new boxes as well. Its just your luck when it comes down to it.
  • My Sky box as I said is over 4 years old. I don't get the new on demand TV or whatever it is called and the memory is smaller. I think I will call them and see what they say. Thanks very much for all your help. JUst needed reassurance I think.

It's called sky anytime, you are correct in saying it won't work on every SKY + box. I believe they will try it on saying it's not a paid service so they are giving it you for free. They will also say you can watch the items on your pc, get round this comment by saying you've got vista on the pc and sky anytime won't work.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi

A couple of things to bear in mind..

I canx sky movies as we never watched that much and wanted to reduce monthly cost. If you canx then you cannot watch anything you have pre-recorded on Sky +

Also if you get a new/updated box, then you will lose everything you have recorded on the other. Just had to get box replaced so I know!

The Sky Anytime is not an on demand service... The web service is.. With sky anytime on your box you only get the programs SKY want you to watch. They take half your Hard drive and put whatever they want on it. If you reduce your package they will no doubt put on things you will need to upgrade to watch. So basically they will fill up your hard drive with a lot of useless Junk.

At least with the web service anytime you can pick what you want to watch.

As for the memory... read about upgrading your box.. The new ones have 40 hours worth of space compared to the old 20. But as the box is yours why not just put in a larger hard drive. I have a 250GB in mine.. roughly 140 hours recording time.

Also don't just bin your old box(es), either sell them on eBay, offer them on Freecycle, or let me have the old Sky box for nothing! :-)

As said above you can put in a larger disk, however you won't get the anytime service on that, as all the disk will still be used for programmes.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

But at least you can put on what you want... Its not as if sky are giving you exclusive content or special editions of movies on it... They are just recording things that you can record anyway.

It is basically a system for them to have you sitting with 6-7 new movies on your hard drive, then when you are bored or there is nothing on or you cant be bothered going to rent a dvd you will upgrade so you can watch the movies.. Even if you only upgrade for the month they are still getting money from you they wouldnt have.
