    Over on the forum hpc.co.uk this news has not been well received. Poor Eric Pebble. I don't think there is a font large or red enough to express his feelings about the last few years.

    Looks like they also don't understand the difference between London and everywhere else to be honest.

    No, the sold prices appear to be higher.

    EA's are suggesting 3-5% over asking price is now not uncommon as buyers scramble to get a house before it becomes more expensive.

    I thought about selling 2 or 3 myself, I'm happy enough with current prices to the extent that I could live the market going even higher and not caring, but what to do with equity, that is the issue. My home mortgage is already paid off, my rental profits are extra high (due to low margin tracker mortgages) and I have just invested quite a bit in the ftse, so that only really leaves savings accounts that pay a net rate far less than the rate of inflation. So my conclusion has to be to stay in the market for now, but I fully understand why you have locked in some profit, well done.

    EA's are suggesting 3-5% over asking price is now not uncommon as buyers scramble to get a house before it becomes more expensive.

    All EA's should be gathered up and put on the bonfire every 5th november:)

  • Loving all the recent house price news, brought my house for £102,000 in 2004 and was secretly hoping to sell it for £150,000 in around 2035 when I'm looking to retire.

    I know you should take the prices on Zoopla with a pinch of salt but on there my house is already listed as valued at £130,000 and I still have 21 years to go yet lol
