CSA backdating question.

Hi everyone, just hoping for some clarification here.
I first contacted the CSA back in February 2008 and gave them my ex's details - contact number, address, employer. Not long after, I heard via a friend that CSA had caught up with him and he told a few people he had quit to avoid making payments. I informed the CSA about this (they hadn't bothered telling me!) and I was told they could take money from his benefits instead. I had heard very little after that, I made sure to keep them updated about new addresses etc.
Fast forward to this week and I find out he is back in work. I also managed to obtain a current phone number and address thanks to a data collection sheet our daughter's school sent me to make sure contact information is correct - he only had his details added recently at his own request.
I called the CSA on Thursday afternoon and to my shock they called me back on Friday morning to say they had just spoken to him on the phone. He had admitted working and they are going to backdate it. However, I forgot to ask how long for, whether it's from 2008 or to when he started working (which I think is around 5/6 months).
The CSA worker did mention there is a problem with his employer/wages and if it takes a week or two not to worry. I'll give until the end of the month before I follow up. The only problem I can think of is I know where he works has a lot of casual contract workers, so delay in calculating how much to pay maybe?
Thanks for any help

Or the 3rd option... from when they asked him? Had you considered that?0 -
As he was claiming benefits previously, it would be from when his benefit claim ended. However, in most other situations it is backdated to when the CSA were first tyold about the change.
When you say backdate to 2008, did they not calculate at the time that he should pay £5 a week from his benefits?I often use a tablet to post, so sometimes my posts will have random letters inserted, or entirely the wrong word if autocorrect is trying to wind me up. Hopefully you'll still know what I mean.0 -

I contacted numerous times, asking for updates and giving them what details I had, including his local job centre. Every time I was told they'd be in touch...nothing ever happened!0 -
Yes I had actually but the word arrears suggests going back a bit and not from when they called him...which is why I asked, oddly enough.
Whatever the word means in your eyes, it does seem you are seeking replies that tell you what you want to hear rather than what you need to know.

So, I cannot see why you would be getting excited over 1-getting large arrears 2-Not cynical over getting the runaround from the NRP and the CSA.0 -

Large arrears? Hardly. Perhaps I should be cynical, that remains to be seen though. They got on the ball pretty fast this time. I spoke to the same lady both days so I might be lucky and actually have a person who does their job.0 -
If they have never put the £5 calculation in place from the beginning, then yes, you may find a backdated calculation of £5 from 2008 and another from when his benefits ended. Or you may find that calculation is already in place but no-one told you, or that they never did track him down despite all the info you gave them, and that your whole case goes from this most recent contact. Your best bet, in this instance, is to get a bit more info from the CSA, both about what happened in the past, and what's going on now.I often use a tablet to post, so sometimes my posts will have random letters inserted, or entirely the wrong word if autocorrect is trying to wind me up.
