Really annoying DJ's

I cannot for the life of me understand it.
He must have good listening figures as he just goes on and on and on.. but I've never come across anyone who will admit to liking his show. Quite the opposite in fact.
It truly is dreadful.
(ends post by playing a 3 minute completely pointless 'theme tune' jingle)0 -
I actually find Steve Wright pleasantly amusing, we have quite a good laugh when listening to him at work, however Chris Evans can be so damn annoying going on about his kids every day!, it's as if no-one ever had children before!, whilst it's admirable that he seems to finally have grown up himself, does loads of great work for charity, he gets on my nerves with sound overs of his little boy, and then the kids phoning telling everyone what they are going to do each day at 7.30am, that's definitely the motivator to be in the shower:mad: The format of his show has been practically the same since he took over, and the staff on it still seem to have to be syncophatic, at least Vassos fights his corner more than Johnny Saunders ever did!,better to listen to the more natural partnership of Simon Mayo and Matt0

I just have Radio 2 on in the background so dont really listen to it but i do like Jeremy Vine.I used to like Jimmy Young and hated it when they let him go.
But what happens to Radio 2 on a sunday? Its just awful.I have to look and see if i still have the radio tuned to radio 2.0 -
A lot of DJs seem to think it's utterly hilarious to sing along. Does anyone find it funny?! I actually heard a local DJ talk all over the guitar intro to Layla the other day.
NOOOOOOOOO .. Layla... not to be confused with Lola by the Kinks ?
TBH it was always the norm in the 'olden' days0 -
I am glad that somebody mentioned "Dial a Disc" and that Ie didn't dream it. I mentioned it to hubby and he didn't know what I was on about!
I'm sure there was one where you got a bedtime story down the phone as well.
I listen to a lot of internet radio these days and I love one called "106.7 The River", it comes from Missouri, USA and plays 70's, 80's and the odd 90's track. Usually when I listen in the morning/early afternoon, you don't hear any talking or adverts, just music, as they are 6 hours behind us.
Also, another one is called "Oldies Paradise", which is 70's and early 80's music.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £29,419.760 -
I don't mind Steve Wright, also Like Ken Bruce. The one that winds me up and end up with me screaming at the radio is Jeremy Vine. When I first started listening to him, he was ok, asked people the right questions etc. Now, I don't know if he has been to journo school or something, but he exaggerates any issue and makes them seem to be far worse than they are.
One particular one was the Qantas a380, whose engine failed and emergency landing at Singapore. He was saying the engine fell off ! No it didn't a small piece of the cowling came off and pierced the wing. There were 3 other engines working fine and there was no danger to anyone. His news show, has gone from good listening, to an audio version of the Sun newspaper !0 -
While in a friend's car I once heard Steve Wright say "We'll get back to the chat after this break". The "break" was a song - which he played about a minute of before coming back on air. That summed him up perfectly for me - "I'm more important than the music", which IMHO is not a good way of thinking for a DJ. Steve Wright is not a guest in my home.0

I only listen to Chris Evans and this was after Chris Moyles left Radio 1. I resented being 'forced' over to Radio 2 after R1 decided that they wanted to appeal to a younger audience and left anyone over the age of 25 and not a fan of One Direction out in the cold. However, I do really enjoy listening to Chris Evans, but can't stick Steve Wright or Simon Mayo on the drive home so I go back over to Radio 1.
I occasionally listen to Jeremy Vine when I'm off work, but his topics are either painfully dull or completely inane. He always has an agenda and if he speaks to anyone from the North with an opposing opinion he can't cut them off sooner.0 -
I just compiled a list of great BBC DJs
