Really annoying DJ's

Options
I give up. I thought about complaining to the BBC but they would only pigeonhole my thoughts.
Has Steve Wright ever - ever played a track from beginning to end and not interrupted the play ? He always comes in with some banal comment or even tries to sing the words.
I want to hear the track right through. And I don't see a reason for being asked to "put your hand up if -" on a radio show.
Cannot understand how the BBC can give one person a show six or seven days a week.
Still - I pronounce my T's ( as in later or party ) so I must be too old and no longer of any consequence to the media. Not even BBC2.
Rant over.

I've no idea why Steve Wright has not been pensioned off yet. He's crap, and anyone that likes him is obviously a bit dim.

I often listen to R2, but always turn off when Steve Wright comes on, he is pretty awful.

I always thought that a DJ was told to talk over the beginning or the end of a song to stop you taping it.

I'd heard this over 40 years ago and knew people who would tape music from radio. But who records from radio these days especially Radio 2?

Maybe the fact he gets good listening figures?

Them talking over it's the "British way". I've heard that in America they speak, then play a whole record to the end, then speak. It's just the way it's done.

    Yes it's annoying.

I've not listened to him for about 20 years, used to sometimes catch his "really sad stories" bits years ago ... the slot had a catchy name that escapes me. . . and they always played the same 'haunting music' in the background while he read out the story of lost love, death, determination, triumph and tragedy....

I just use online radio stations with very little or no dj's- they are has beens and I agree with the op about them,- Chris Evans is surely the worlds biggest w*anker to grace the air waves- but, I use him on my bedside alarm, as soon as it goes off I get so I don't have to listen to the tw*t.

Steve Wright used to do the Top 40 back in the days taping onto cassette was the only way to get free music. So that's when he learnt the habit.

"Steve Wright in the afternoooooooooon" and other jingles ad nauseum.

Unfortunately he hasn't grown out of that habit yet.

I am of the age to be a Radio 2 listener now but never listen. Radio 1 is too puerile and all the Jocks on R2 annoy me. Sometimes I dip into Radio 6 music but otherwise it's memory stick and shuffle (car joyously has a USB port!)

    You think this is bad?
I remember the Noel Edmonds breakfast show with a milkman and Mr Angry (this was before his Crinkly bottom)
Then there was Tony Blackburn who played nothing but miserable music when Tessa legged it.
I also remember fondly, pirate radio ...

Steve Wrights sad bit was called 'Our Tune'

I thought I was alone in feeling like that about Djs and that it was the start of grumpiness in late middle age . Sports guy .. His posse.. His smug self satisfaction.. Just annoying .
