Credit report looking really bad

Hi,
My husband and I have just checked his credit report with equifax as he was bankrupted and discharged in 2012. All of the credit agreements he had when he went bankrupt are showing as 'defaulted' and have recent updates (as recent as last month)
Is this correct? Surely it shouldn't say 'defaulted' if he went bankrupt?
I'm just wondering if this is why his credit rating is 'very poor' and what we can do to fix any of it? Does he contact the old lenders, or Equifax?
Many thanks.

As the link above shows, should have been defaulted on or before his bankruptcy date and marked in some way to show it was satisfied on his discharge date. The original default stands though.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
