TrulyMadly wrote: »Free bus travel
http://www.arrivabus.co.uk/catchthebusweek/?
Good spot.:T (Now, are there any Arriva services near me? Otherwise I'd have to be travelling out then to get some buses:(, upside-down Martin:rotfl:.) I noticed that, if you've never caught a bus before, they have some information on how to catch a bus if you need help.
:rotfl::rotfl: It includes finding out where you want to go, which ticket do you need (I thought this was free travel?) and this:
Getting on the bus
As the bus approaches your bus stop you will see the number and destination of the service on the front. To stop the bus, simply hold out your arm to signal to the driver that you want him to stop. [...]
Getting off the bus
When you want the bus to stop, simply press the bell once in good time and remain in your seat until the bus comes to a stop.
Now, do I need to stop buses even if they are not the ones I want?
They're silent about that matter. Do I only stop it if it's the bus I want? Or do I stop every bus, or every bus that shows a number and destination? It claims that, as the bus approaches, I'll see the number and destination - however, I won't if it's a "not in service" bus!:p
I like reading instructions that companies and organisations give on such obvious things:rotfl::rotfl:. They always leave something out or some matters unaddressed and it's a good amusement trying to find the loopholes:rotfl::D. Whatever next? You'd think things like how to catch buses, how to stand in a queue and how to behave at a post office didn't need stating! In this 'strange':rotfl: society, it seems (sadly?) they do!:j Always gives me such fun - remember the 'ban on pyjamas' one at a Mr T where they didn't mention what they meant by "nightwear"?:D:rotfl::rotfl: I'd have thought it were bloomin' obvious, and therefore such notices wouldn't be needed! Once they give a notice however, they are always incomplete, never precise and full on every absolute matter possible and now the notice is provided apparently have a loophole that we'd never have had under the 'common sense' approach (no notice being required as it's obvious) - now the notice and we can now do things they've neglected to mention that are 'obviously' prohibited things!
Well, they're obviously not 'obviously' prohibited anymore are they? It was necessary to mention the obviousness that nightwear (whatever that is:D) can't be worn in a supermarket so, as that needed mentioned, it mustn't have been obvious after all! So nothing pertaining to that subject matter must now be obvious and therefore anything they've omitted gives us a free run!:D (Except it doesn't... I'm sure if I tried, they're still call the police or something and try to enforce the unwritten social rules of society - that I obviously know about, with my tad mischievous streak:rotfl::rotfl:.)
Edit: They haven't clarified on how to stop the bus either. What is "good" time? I haven't a clue!:rotfl: I knew before I read their instructions on how to stop buses (at least I thought I did). Now, they've mentioned stopping them in "good" time, I no lomger know!:rotfl::rotfl:
Second edit: Simply press the bell in good time....[my emphasis]
It's 'simple' to them! It's now absolute unfathomable to me and I no longer know. It's not "simple" at all pressing a bell in "good time" when I cannot determine, from their instructions, what precise moment the "good" time occurs at!
See what I mean about the loopholes always created?
I might write to them to ask them what they mean by "good time":rotfl::rotfl:.
An hour before you want the bus to stop? Is that "good" time or not? It's surely adequate and far more. It must surely(?) therefore be "good"?:j Right, that's the answer!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::D (I thought it was just a few moments or so before the stop you required. But, now, from their guide, I know I've been doing it wrongly all these years. Thanks for the guide - I now know:rotfl:!)
Final edit: A full consideration from me, again:mad::rotfl:. (And just to clarify, I'm pronouncing it as "a-gen" ("gen" not pronounced as in "general") rather than "a-gain":rotfl:.)0 -

I'm 'off' the turkey steaks at the moment ! I was bashing some out with a mallet last night (planning to roll them up with some of the Cooks essential butter and then top with the crumbs) when one of my fingers got in the way ! I now have a VERY painful index finger with a black nail and the top flesh sectiona lovel shade of purple. I can't type with that finger as its so sore. I said several very rude Anglo Saxon words.
Ouch! Intended to do something similar last night but phone rang - so just shoved them in a pyrex dish with Cooks essential Chilli & Lime and covered. Only 25 mins and done - thickened sauce slightly with Filler gravy granules - tasted divine!
Try some Arnica cream on your finger - I find it cuts the healing time considerably.0 -
