Sent prove the debt letter , DCA rejected it !

Hi people

I received a letter from a solicitor acting on behalf of a bank , requesting payment of a debt i have no knowledge of.
I wrote back using martins template "prove it " letter , they wrote back asking me to pay for the information.
So , i then wrote back again using martins recommended "complaint " letter .
This is their reply :

There is no obligation on us in the abscene of a formal data request t provide you with any further information .We are not the creditor in this matter .As you have already filed a written notice of complaint with our office , you have already followed our complaints procedure .
I therefore reject your complaint. This is my final response.

What now ?? Do i just ignore ?

Thanks

Don't you have to pay £1 for the information? Or am I getting confused?

How much did they ask you to pay?

According to martins page ( extract below ) , if your querying the debt is yours then you shouldn't have to pay the 1 pound , unless I'm confused ? :

Also please note that if you are unsure that the debt being chasing is valid or yours, then use the letter above.

Please do not be tempted to send a request (CCA request) under s77-79 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 requesting copies of the credit agreement.

Paying £1 to put something like this to bed seems cheap IMO.

Complain to Arrow directly. Take them to the FOS if they won't call the lawyers off.

Bad idea to pay the £1 fee if it's not your debt. They can reconstruct an unsigned copy of the agreement they think existed with that. So it proves exactly F all.

You are confused I think. FCA rules says the creditor is obliged to provided proof it is yours if you dispute it. You don't have to pay a fee for that.

  • there is a fee of a pound, but in all honesty i have sent 4 different companys the prove it, by means of signed agreement and never sent a pound they have all responded to me by saying they are looking for it or cant find it, i would be reluctant to pay the pound and just ignore until you hear anymore..they will probably sell it on to some other company

The £1 is for a copy of the credit agreement when you send a CCA request. You would only send a CCA request when you know that the debt is yours.

When you send a 'prove it letter,' you're asking for proof that the debt is yours and you don't have to pay anything.

This is logical, surely. Any DCA could randomly write to me saying I owe this, that and the other. Why should I have to pay anything to get them to prove it?
    What will your verse be?
