need your ideas on how I can use my skills - vet nurse

Options
Hi im a qualified veterinary nurse. I work full time and also do pet sitting on the side

In work I advise people on their pets nutrition and weight, check teeth, clean ears, give medication, clip nails and advise on behaviour and write out behaviour modification plans as this is an area i am very interested in.

These are some of the basic skills I have that i could use but how can I use them to perhaps start a new business or do something that people require and would be prepared to pay me for as I'm looking to be able develop into something more.

Within the pet and animal trade is there anything that you think there is a gap in the market for that I could tap into?

Do you fancy dog training. you could do classes, one to ones, ebooks and manuals etc. Could this be expanded to other pets, maybe nervous horses? Then perhaps a website, selling your ebooks, vitamins, supplements equipment etc

    Hi there

I have two cats who will not take there worming pills - I'm a bit squeamish about it. I have to wait until I go to the vet for the annual check up ( unless one of them needs a visit) but they get so upset when they do go to the vets its ridiculous.

I would love someone to come to my house and give them the pills regularly for me and would certainly pay for this to happen. I really can't call the vet for this service but I'd be happy for a nurse to do it.

I'm sure there must be lots of people like me.

Nail clipping! My rabbit will not let me anywhere near his feet to clip his nails and so I have to take him to the vets for this, which is a hassle because he hates his travel cage, and just the entire experience really. I'd much prefer to pay a nurse to come and clip his nails in my own house!

I'd be a little bit careful about possible conflicts of interest. e.g. if someone pays you to clip nails rather than taking the pet to the vets, then the vet loses out. How would your workplace feel about this?

Not saying any of it is a bad idea, just something to consider.
