That is interesting information from the Halifax.
I obtained a mortgage from the Halifax a few weeks ago, and was asked the question "Have you ever had any problems repaying credit" - I gave full disclosure at that point, although when informed it was 8 years ago, they had no interest at all.

Nationwide definitely don't do Help to Buy (Mortgage Guarantee) mortgages, but I don't know whether they do the equity loan version for new builds.0

That must be the confusion they do the equity loan not the mortgage guarantee.0
