House buyers pulled out. Can I get new mortgage deal?

Hi we have had a terrible few months. We put an offer in on a house conditional on ours selling. We knew the people selling the one we wanted so they kindly gave us keys early. Then the day before selling our buyers pulled out.
We continued to pay our mortgage and paid the couple who's house we were in money to cover their mortgage and bills, but we could only keep it up for 3 months. We were getting the house at an amazing price so wanted to hold on but stress levels were through the roof.
We have now moved back to our old house which is still on the market and the one we were in is now on the market too. It will probably sell quick so we will need to look elsewhere when we do sell.
When we applied for new mortgage Santander were prepared to offer a higher amount but I am worried if they will still honour that. Their original offer expires on 30th April, should I contact them now to explain situation? I also worry that because we were approved before that this will affect credit rating etc.
I am not good with change so the whole situation has been horrendous especially with a young son. The only reason we wanted to move is because we are looking into adoption (or baby 2) and need a larger house. I am worried about where we will go and if we will need to move into rented when we do sell and how that all works. I had my heart set on that house, but was really stupid too move in early...lesson learned.

All you can do is continue to market yours. Once it's sold then you start looking to purchase again.0
