Fri 11th April - What Small DFW-Things Will You Be Doing Today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Today I took a home made lunch to work, rather than buy one.
It saves me around £3 (if I was to do a Tesco lunch meal deal instead)Won a bottle of cava in a raffle once....that's where my luck ended!0 -
Hey Debt-Free Wannabe Jedis, time for my weekly post. Still don't have time to post daily at present, sorry.
OPERATION APRIL
I am continuing work on Operation April. The plan is to get all the issues in my life sorted by the end of April with the exception of one credit card debt. So here's this week:
I have made progress! I resolved three issues.
Entertainment
Re-watching DVDs we already own.
Mobile Phones
Wrapped up old contract with the old company.
Still have to wait for last bill.
Missing TopCashBack
Missing credit of £29.30 for insurance purchased through TCB is now showing.
Still waiting for payment.
Utility Switching
With new supplier.
Still need to wait for bill to allow me to settle nPower account.
Old Credit Card 1 Complaint
Small compensation cheque cleared.
Issue resolved!
Old Credit Card 2 Refund
£175 cheque cleared.
Issue resolved!
DWP Debt
Made last payment on a small debt to the DWP from my JSA-claiming days.
Still need to wait to check they don't take too much as they're not trustworthy.
NHS Dental Treatment
Pain has now gone so no cost for painkillers.
Still need to complete HC1 form to get a reduction on future NHS treatment and a partial refund when I've had last appointment on Tuesday.
New reading glasses for OH
OH is shopping around for new specs which can be bought when HC1 form has been processed.
Income Tax Refund
P60 has arrived so I have applied for a huge refund.
Still waiting for outcome.
Complaint to bank 1
Complained about misinformation from bank. Received £50 compensation.
Issue resolved!
Complaint to bank 2
Complained (again) having called Telephone Banking to get details of a branch location. Received directions, drove to branch, found it closed down two years ago!
Still awaiting a response and a refund for wasted petrol.
'The Debt'
Have kept up with all the repayments and made extra small payment. Unexpectedly received £13 refund on balance transfer fee.
OTHER STUFF
Also been trying to life the DFW-dream in DFW-style So here's this week's other stuff:
*House cleaned using minimum products and washable cloths.
*Doing RM surveys. They sent me a £5 voucher today.
*Taking a packed lunch and a flask to work.
*Charging phone in the car whenever possible.
*Reserved a book at the library rather than buying it.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

Two things.
1. Opened up new Piggybanking a/c with NS & I as I'll be able to drop excess funds from accounts at end of budget month into it.
2. Found £5.00 lying on grass when out and about today - nobody nearby looking for it btw - gave it to OHwhen I got home, who put it towards a chinese takeaway - she started her new job this week. This, plus bottle of wine in rack from Christmas and freebee money reduced total cost of nice meal to £7.20
DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499
28th October 2019 - £13,505 - 27% paid off.
