DFH and MEM Financial

Options
Good Afternoon All

I am looking for advice,
I know from reading the threads that it was not a wise option to go with DFH but I did.

I had an agreement set up with DFH ltd to clear my debt . I have completed my management plan and was under the assumption that I was debt free however a payday loan has not been paid and I owe £1225 which is shown on my credit file.

I submitted on my authorization form that I had a loan with payday UK and the account number. I then cleared my debts over 2 years with DFH. But on further investigation into this Payday UK loan, I found out that MEM Financial sent the details of an old payday express loan to to DFH which they then paid off.

Now I have payday uk chasing me for £1225 they offered a £820 settlement figure. I am frantically trying to find all my paperwork

I cant afford the £820 and disappointed because i fought so hard to be debt free
Is this still my responsibility since i sent the correct details to dfh and it was MEM that made this mistake or would DFH and MEM be responsible? Or is there anyway i can get it reduced to a lower figure

Unfortunately if the debt is yours and hasn't been paid then it is still your responsibility to pay it.

You could try offering a reduced sum in full & final settlement of the debt (factsheet here gives a suggested template - https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/factsheets/Pages/24%20EW%20Full%20and%20final%20settlement%20offers/Default.aspx)

Or offer to repay it in installments at a rate you can afford.

You say you are trying to find the paperwork - if you cannot find it or are unsure of the amount they claim is owed then the creditor should supply you with a copy of the original agreement and a full transaction breakdown to explain the balance.
You can request the agreement with a CCA request - https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/factsheets/Pages/39%20EW%20Credit%20agreements%20-%20getting%20information/Default.aspx
And/Or write to ask them to provide a breakdown of the outstanding amount
A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give
or "It costs nowt to be nice"
  • Thanks Tixy,

I think the biggest thing is that I worked hard and done without things for 2 years to clear my debts and now I am still in debt due to a mistake out of my control

The debt is mine and I am going to have to take responsibility for it. Hopefully with the template and the story behind they might reduce it a bit more, I was hoping i could blame DFH but it wont get the debt cleared.

    Again thanks for the advice
