How long can a mortgage offer take - halifax ?

Afternoon,

We gave our details for a full application Tue 02/04/2014.

I was contacted on the Saturday 5/4/14 and asked for payslips and proof of tenancy for other property, this was sent Mon 07/04/2014.

Was called Tue 8/4/14 by builders to say the survey had been cancelled, called Halifax who advised it was due to extra checking of our details.

I was called by Halifax Wed 9/4/14 to say info I had sent about the tenancy was not good enough. I sent more information on Wednesday and called yesterday and was told this was not scheduled to be checked until today. I was also called yesterday by Halifax to go through our credit commitments again - one was missing as I will have cleared it before completion but was advised they needed to know about it.

How long does this process normally take? At the beginning of the week I was being advised that all being well with Tuesdays survey the offer should be out today. Is this so long that it looks like there could be a problem with us getting a mortgage at all?

As long as is required. There's no set time. Many variables that can impact the process.
